Biography
Chynna Chung M.M. ’25 joined Carthage in 2025 as a student success advisor, bringing a rich background in education and the arts.
Prior to joining Carthage, she worked as a choir and theatre teacher in Racine and Kenosha, Wisconsin. Her teaching experiences not only honed her ability to connect with students of diverse backgrounds, but also reinforced her passion for guiding individuals through their personal and academic growth.
Her background in teaching has uniquely prepared her for her current role, as it developed her strong communication, mentorship, and problem-solving skills. Leading students through the creative and collaborative processes in the classroom taught her how to approach challenges with patience and understanding, and how to support students in their journey to discover their strengths. These experiences have allowed Chynna to relate to students in a meaningful way, recognizing that each student has a unique path to success.
In addition to her work as an educator, Chynna is an active performer and director in southeastern Wisconsin, further enriching her perspective on the importance of self-expression, teamwork, and perseverance. Her artistic background gives her a creative approach to helping students overcome obstacles and navigate the challenges they may face. She believes that these skills are essential in fostering a sense of community and empowerment, both inside and outside the classroom.
As a first-generation college graduate, Chynna is passionate about supporting students from all walks of life. She strives to create a space where no student feels isolated or unsupported. Her commitment to ensuring that each student receives the guidance and resources they need to succeed is at the core of her work at Carthage, where she continues to make a positive impact on the college community.

Main responsibilities at Carthage
Chynna provides personalized support to students by addressing their academic, emotional, and social needs. She takes a holistic approach to student development, offering guidance on academic strategies, personal growth, and connecting students to campus resources. Chynna’s focus is on helping students thrive, both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring they feel empowered and supported throughout their college journey.
Favorite thing about working at Carthage
One of Chynna’s favorite aspects of her role is connecting with and supporting students. She finds great fulfillment in being a resource and guiding them through challenges, much like she was supported throughout her own educational experience at Carthage. Having been deeply impacted by the institution as a first-generation graduate, Chynna is passionate about giving back to the community that helped her grow, ensuring that every student has the tools and encouragement they need to succeed.
Other interests?
Chynna’s special interests are always changing, and that’s exactly how she likes it! Whether she’s singing, dancing, acting, or directing, she’s always up to something creative and fun. When she’s not in the spotlight, you’ll probably catch her curled up with a good book, lost in a new story, or picking up some random new hobby (because who doesn’t love trying something new, right?). One minute she’s exploring the world of knitting, and the next she’s starting a thirty day yoga challenge.
